What a stunning day of athleticism, whanau support and sunshine we had to celebrate our 2024 cross country day.
The frost quickly thawed from the heat of the sun which stayed with us all day making the day a huge success. The wonderfully decorated cupcakes, hot sizzling sausages and coffee made the ambience even more attractive as we watched and acknowledged our students.
I was very proud of the students who challenged themselves by entering in the competitive race. Running is not for everyone and I appreciate it can be hard which made the group of students who entered even more important.
We included the 'social' run last year to try and increase the number of students who in the past had mostly chosen to have the day at home. I believe we have achieved more students participating in our day but I would still like to see more run in their year group races.
Well done to the first three place getters. The training and success you enjoy from running was evident. See results below.
For our Y5 - Y8 students we will be sending the top five to inter-school cross country event, week 2, Tuesday 30 July at Wither Hills. Please keep up your training over the holiday break.
We look forward to recognising first three at assembly on the last day of Term 2, 2024.
A big thank you to Pete and Rob, our caretakers, staff, students for all they do to make the day a memorable one for us all.
