What a proud moment for Lily S, Sharon S, Mackenzie M, Sophie R, and Winston C when they were announced as the second-placed team in their division at the Robocup Nationals in Rotorua.
It was an absolute privilege to speak with the team after their incredible achievement.
What a journey it has been—from winning the regional competition in Nelson back in June to travelling all the way to Rotorua, crossing the Cook Strait by ferry, competing against the best teams, and returning home with a remarkable second-place finish. It was an outstanding achievement and one I’m sure the students will remember for the rest of their lives.
The dedication shown by the team and Ms Marquet was evident from the very beginning. Through their own determination and hard work, they raised all the funds needed to make the trip possible—a true testament to their commitment and teamwork.
Thank you to the parents who supported the team by driving, providing meals, and cheering them on throughout the journey. Your support was invaluable, and without it this experience would not have been possible. Thank you Abby, April, Tim and Yoon Ho.
A huge thank you also to Monique for your wholehearted commitment to the team from day one. Your coaching, travel to Nelson, fundraising efforts, and giving up another weekend to support the team in Rotorua are greatly appreciated. Your dedication has made a lasting difference.
Thank you to the many sponsors in particular Well & Good, The Rotary, Fresh Choice and Eckford Engineering.
Congratulations to you all. We are incredibly proud of what you have achieved.
