Year 8s Exploring Abel Tasman 2023

November 28, 2023

Our Year 8 students are out in one of Aotearoa’s most stunning corners — the Abel Tasman — for their end-of-year celebration camp, and the experience looks absolutely phenomenal.

What a phenomenal part of Aotearoa our Year 8s are currently exploring! Abel Tasman is a pure delight and a stunning showcase of just how beautiful our country truly is.

Today Jackson, Heather, and I headed out by water taxi to catch up with the two groups — Hillary and Tenzing. Our first stop was Bark Bay, where we found a wonderful scene of tents, laughter, swimming, and exploration in the clear waters and golden sands of the Abel Tasman. Seeing so many happy faces was an absolute joy.

After years of watching Year 8 groups head off on this special trip, it was wonderful to finally see our 2023 cohort living the experience for themselves. What an absolute privilege this journey is.

At 11.30am we made our way to Anchorage to visit the second group — more students in the water, friendships strengthening, and new places being discovered together. Once again, the sheer beauty of the surroundings was not lost on anyone — students, staff, and parents alike.

A huge thank you to Cris, Tore, Nick, and Deb for everything you do to make this week happen. Well done to all our Year 8s — we hope the rest of the week is just as wonderful. See you back at school on Friday!
