Matariki 2024

July 1, 2024

Renwick School celebrated Matariki 2024 with a dawn visit to Rarangi Beach, kapa haka, a cooked breakfast, and a full morning of creative art — a truly unforgettable day of learning and togetherness.

What an incredible day of learning, celebrating, remembering, and acknowledging as our school and whānau came together to celebrate Matariki.

Our day began at Rarangi Beach, where our kapa haka group performed, we took time to sit and view the morning sky, and gathered to remember the past and look ahead to the future. We then returned to school for a delicious cooked breakfast — a huge thank you to Jeff and Sharee Luttrell, franchise managers of The Local Butcher, Riverlands, who so generously donated the sausages and bacon. The donation was gratefully received and there were many well-deserved compliments about the food!

Following kai, we had a full morning of creating and making Matariki-inspired art, before coming together to share and celebrate each other’s work.

Thank you to all staff for the extra planning and effort you put in to make sure our students will remember Matariki 2024 as one of life’s truly special learning experiences. What a wonderful way to lead into the long weekend.
